CC state champs chosen nation's best Catholic male team!

The 2009 State Champs baseball team won "INTERNATIONAL HONORS"!!! Now the football does this awesome!!!

Central Catholic's football team, coming off a third consecutive undefeated Class A championship season, has been selected by Sports Faith International as the top Catholic male sports team in the nation for 2011-12.

The winner is selected based on four factors: athletic achievement, team academic achievement, community action projects and team spirituality.

This year's award ceremony will be held on Feb. 26 at Halas Hall, headquarters of the Chicago Bears in Lake Forest, Ill.

"I am very honored and humbled for our football team to win a prestigious national award that recognizes not only success on the field, but the importance of being well rounded academically and spiritually as well," CC athletic director Tim Bordenet said. "This is a great honor for our football program, Central Catholic High School and our community."

All-Stars

Purdue recruit Danny Anthrop is among 21 area players selected to the Indiana Football Coaches Association Region 4 All-Star Team.

Two of Anthrop's Central Catholic teammates were also selected: quarterback Austin Munn and offensive lineman Jeff Adams.

West Lafayette and McCutcheon also placed three players on the team. Center Baxter DeBruyn, defensive end Dayton Snyder and punter Adam Folta represent the Red Devils. Air Force recruit Vince Hunsicker is joined by McCutcheon teammates Jackson Timmons (OL) and Brian Price (DL).

Linebacker Paco Carillo of Lafayette Jeff also was honored.
